About Us

DING3000 is the studio of the designers Carsten Schelling, Sven Rudolph and Ralf Webermann. After studying together and working in various design offices such as Vogt&Weizenegger and Marcel Wanders, the designers have been working together since 2005 and design consumer goods such as furniture, lighting and home accessories with their team. DING3000 has become known for designs that are characterized by subtle, charming ideas as well as strong and innovative concepts, such as the oft-cited Concept Bike for BASF.

DING3000 has won over 30 design awards with its designs, including the internationally renowned iF Product Design Award, the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the Design Plus Award.

In addition to a large number of publications worldwide, their work has been presented in various books, including 'Design Now!' by Taschen Verlag, 'Furnish' and 'Desire - The Shape of Things to Come' by Gestalten Verlag.

Works by DING3000 are represented in the permanent collections of various museums and have been shown at design festivals and exhibitions such as the German Pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

Services We Offer

DING 3000 is a studio for product design. Our core expertise lies in the design of novel and imaginative consumer goods on the basis of a serious dispute with all relevant aspects of design, such as a suitable design with regards to materials and production or usability and sustainability.

We work in the fields of furniture, luminaries, tableware, residential accessories, premium giftware and give-aways, design strategy and corporate design consulting. Generally we are following a multi disciplinary approach, always looking for new fields of activities and challenges.

We offer our clients a comprehensive support starting with the first idea up to the final product. During this process we analyse market and competitors, we create concepts, generate ideas, design, visualize and model. We master the techniques of visualisation in 2D and 3D starting from a sketch up to digital model making. We build and design models and prototypes. We do research for producers and accompany the production. In order to manage also complex and extensive assignments we set value on a close and professional co-operation with our network of external designers.

Philosophy

Our design philosophy cannot be described by a dogma or an "ism". The designs come about through a situation, product and customer-oriented design process which takes place somewhere in-between method and magic. The way to the product lies in the search for a new, better, different, unjustly forgotten, humorous idea. The resulting formal and functional perfection is largely due to this idea. Our work is evidence of the pleasure we take in challenging materials, products and not least people's behaviour. Often we question available solutions and popular assumptions and proceed in a way that is contradictory to them. As a result, we continually discover creative "virgin soil" off the beaten track.
